Frequently Asked Questions

What Traxbeat is all about and why do I need it?

We have been asked "Why should I join another service? What do I get if I join?". Below is an answer from our founder about why he developed Traxbeat and the reason behind it:

"I have been in the music industry for 2 decades and I am also an artist like you who loves creating and listening to music. I have also been bombarded with music services or sites that promises to help my brand and music. I am sure you too and I also hate spam as you hate it too. They say it's free, then they force you to pay through subscriptions or one-off payments and what you actually get back is less than what you have spent, both in time and money. Also in recent years Spotify has created a new way of exploiting our music through which they force us to pay curators, instead of getting paid, to add one of our tracks on a playlist, just tragic. So actually instead of getting paid we give our money to people that many times have fake followers and likes. Statistics talk, it's not my imagination. Unfortunately you get much less than you spent in time and money. I developed Traxbeat because as an artist myself, I felt that I had to pay instead of getting paid for the music I produced. I felt that I had to spend more time on social media than in the studio. Marketing has really destroyed the way music is provided to the world and I believe it's time to change this and get back at least what we deserve but in a fair way. I made Traxbeat with a goal, to see artists succeed because of their awesome music, not just because they have a strong network or money to promote themselves. Of course marketing will continue being a part of our success, but music must always be above of it, as it was in the past. There are a lot of examples to share but simply view a chart in any music store. Everything is based either on marketing or brand awareness, not to forget that sales are still low. That's why I developed Traxbeat, so I can provide a fair system to all artists to expand, get more money for their artistic work and get the exposure their music really deserves through fair rankings and charts. All together, we are 99% that we still take nothing back. This number is very powerful to change how the whole industry treats artists and their music."

Is Traxbeat Beta only for musicians and bands ?

No, Traxbeat Beta is also available for record labels and music fans except the Phase 1 of our Beta which is strictly for musicians. On Phase 2 we will also accept and invite Record Labels. Music Fans invitations are limited and those who apply, want to test and participate in the beta must be very active users and must meet specific music criteria. To apply now for an invitation "Join Beta".

Do you accept all music genres?

Traxbeat is not based on specific genres but each phase is focused on music categories and a small amount of genres. Please check the Beta Phases to see if your genre is in. If it is not included you can still apply and we will contact with you when we enable other genres.

Can I upload released or unreleased music? Are bootlegs and mashups accepted?

Yes, in beta you can upload both a released or an unreleased original work. We do not accept bootlegs, mashups, unofficial remixes or covers and works that are not original and you don't have written permission.

Why does the upload form ask about my royalties percentage? What if my music is already released?

The royalties percentage field has to do with who owns what. This is usable for artists who upload a demo or when a release has more than one artist. Traxbeat won't make any use of it, unless you self-distribute it via Traxbeat or upload your track as a demo so a record label knows the ownership of a track for sending you a licensing proposal. If you already released it or signed it to a record label, percentage is not usable but only for the records.

Is my music protected? How do I know my uploaded file is secure?

Yes, it is. Our upload form requires a 320kbps master file. This file is not accessible by any user or member of the site and it's fully protected. When you upload your file we convert it to a lower bitrate (128kbps) and this file is streamed only to raters of your track and it is not accessible to other users except when your track is accessible via our charts where other users can preview your 128kbps file only. You can also upload your own MP3 preview (128kbps), for example a shorter version of your master file converted to 128kbps. So you have the freedom to either let others listen and rate a full preview or a shorter version of your master. Please note that once you upload a master and a preview, you cannot change or update afterwards, so be careful when submiting a track on Traxbeat.

What if I get bad ratings?

This happens if your music doesn't have a professional overall sound, the idea is very simple or if the track doesn't offer something special to the listener. We are all different and this is why the average rating is accurate for your music. The good thing is that you are getting rated by a fair amount of people so even if there are 2-3 people who don't like your music, this ain't gonna change your track rating much. Of course there will be tracks with a bad average rating. You will be able to hide ratings from tracks that didn't make it and you will be able to improve your rating by uploading better tracks later on. Traxbeat is a chart system to provide quality music therefore it filters what is good vs what it is not for most listeners.

How long does it take until my track is visible on the charts?

Beta Phase 1 has 30 days average time until a track receives a final average rating. The time will be reduced in Phase 2.

Are any charts available now?

Charts are expected to be available from December 2022 and afterwards. After the beta phase 1 ends, tracks will appear on the charts only if they have a valid release date available from the artists.

How much does Traxbeat cost?

Traxbeat is FREE for all artists. There are few exceptions like our distribution (if you want to use it) or for doing rating improvements, like hiding your track rating to improve your artist rating. Of course you can rate music to earn credits and then use these services totally free.
